Our Programs
Simon Says Live a Better Life is a non-profit dedicated to bringing celebrations of joy to kids faced with financial, emotional, or physical challenges. Our goal is to give them a moment to be seen, experience joy, and know they’re loved on their big day. We believe every child deserves the kind of happiness that boosts self-worth and creates lasting memories. We make this possible through programs designed for our partner organizations, helping us connect with children in need. Check out our programs below.

Birthday Party Program
The Birthday Party Program hosts a monthly celebration at local outreach organizations for kids ages 1-18 who have birthdays that month. Simon Says takes care of everything, providing party supplies, entertainment, and a special gift for each birthday child.
Birthday Kit Program
The Birthday Kit Program provides themed party kits filled with gifts and supplies, letting kids celebrate their birthdays whenever it’s most convenient. Simon Says delivers these kits to children based on recommendations from outreach organizations, taking into account family circumstances, health issues, and financial hardships.

Birthday Wish Program
The Birthday Wish Program gives kids the chance to enjoy a special party at a local business partnered with Simon Says: “Live a Better Life.” Recommendations come from outreach organizations and take into account family situations, health concerns, and financial challenges when selecting participants.

Birthday Book Program
The Birthday Book Program supports Children’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. During our book drive, donations help us gather new books and decorations for kids staying at the hospital around their birthdays. Simon Says delivers the books and materials, while the Child Life Department handles decorating the child’s room.

Other Stuff We Do

Simon Says Nigeria Scholarship
In February 2024, Brenda Jones and Dr. Rebecca Beckner-Goodrich visited the American University of Nigeria in Yola and nearby villages. We began working with the AUN Foundation and University President Dr. DeWayne Frazier to provide Simon Says Nigeria Scholarships to children in a local village. At our 2024 fundraiser, $1,000 was donated for the children of Wuro Modibo, which went toward repairing the water pump serving their school and community. We also contributed additional funds toward the children’s tuition since many families cannot afford public school costs. Tuition is only $25 per term, covering both fees and supplies, so just $100 provides a child with a full year of education focused on literacy in English and their home language through a national reading and math curriculum. The board has decided to adopt Wuro Modibo’s children and keep providing support for them.
Simon Says OPS Scholarship
The Simon Says: Live A Better Life Scholarship is given to an OPS graduating senior who, despite personal challenges, has made a difference by helping others through volunteer work or by positively impacting their community or family, all while keeping school a top priority. School meant a lot to Simon, and even while undergoing cancer treatments, he managed to graduate in the top 5% of the Omaha North Class of 2017. He passed away a month later.

Gold Star Party
Starting new for 2026 is the Gold Star Party, which provides kids the chance to enjoy a special party to celebrate their accomplishments. Events such as graduations, new permanent housing and completion of treatments or medical care will be recognized. Recommendations will come from outreach organizations and take into account family situations, health concerns, and financial challenges when selecting participants.

Simon Says Music Program
Beginning in 2026, the Simon Says Music Program will be offered to nonprofit community support organizations dedicated to bridging the social and economic gap among children. The musical duo behind 'Exploring Life Music-n-Movement' will get young kids moving and grooving, sparking their love for music with fun, silly, and educational songs.
